Nearly 12 years ago, Nikki Haley, now a Republican presidential candidate, wrote about how her husband changed his name, and it resurfaced during the Republican primary.
Vox's senior political correspondent posted on social media on Wednesday an excerpt from her 2012 book, “Can't Is Not an Option,'' in which Ms. Haley and her current husband, Michael Haley, appear on social media. He talked about how he changed the name.
“You may be wondering how 'Bill' became South Carolina Premier Michael Haley,” Haley writes in her book. “After we started dating, I looked at him one day and said, 'What's your name?'

“'It's Bill,' he said, confused.”
“'You don't look like Bill. What's your name?'”
“'William Michael.'”
“From that point on, I started calling him Michael, and so did all my friends. When he transferred to Clemson his sophomore year, my friends became his friends, and before I knew it, he was Michael. Everyone who knew him before me knew him as Bill, and everyone who met him after me knew him as Michael. I am.”
“He looks like Michael,” she wrote.
Haley's momentum in the Republican presidential race appears to be paying off.
Hailey's husband's “name change” was first reported in 2012, but it is now not widely known. The X-post has been viewed more than 1 million times.
Haley has gained momentum in the polls in recent months after receiving positive reviews in the first three Republican presidential primary debates. In New Hampshire, the first primary and second overall contest on the Republican nominating calendar, he came in second place, leapfrogging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

She is also eyeing a fight in Iowa. According to the latest polls, he is tied with DeSantis and a close second behind Trump. Trump has been in the White House for the third consecutive year and remains the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. bid.
