Last week, police reported that seven women and two men have been charged in connection with an assault on a train passenger in Chicago.
This incident has been classified as aggravated battery.
Authorities advised, “If you find yourself in a situation with an assailant, it’s best to stay calm and avoid pursuing them. Use the panic button and alert the transit staff.”
The attack took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday on a train near the 600 block of South State Street in the Chicago Loop.
Police released a composite image of the suspect. Interestingly, one suspect appears twice in the bottom right corner of the image.
Descriptions for each suspect have been provided:
- A black man in a black T-shirt featuring white text and denim shorts
- A black man in a long-sleeve black shirt
- A black woman in a blue T-shirt paired with blue shorts
- A red-haired black woman wearing a white top
- A black woman donning a purple sweater
- A black woman in a black floral sweater
- A black woman with a black zip-up sweater and shorts
- A black woman dressed in a black hooded sweater and pants
- A black woman in a black T-shirt with white text and black pants
Authorities advised the public to “stay aware of your surroundings. Try to remember your location, including the bus or train car number, route or train line, and direction. If you see an assailant, do not confront them—remain calm, press the panic button, and call 911 with details.”

Additionally, another incident was noted, where an aggravated traffic-related collision occurred on a CTA Red Line platform in the 1200 block of North Clark Street, just after 4 p.m. on Friday.
In a related incident, a 23-year-old woman was reportedly attacked while waiting on a train platform. One assailant physically assaulted her by pulling her hair, striking her, and kicking her. Meanwhile, another individual hindered bystanders from assisting her.
