NJ mom wishes ‘nothing but the worst’ for dad who killed son, 6, by forcing him on treadmill

A New Jersey father was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday for killing his son by making him run at high speed on a treadmill to punish him.

On March 20, 2021, Christopher Greger allegedly allowed Corey Micciolo (6) to continue using the machine after he fell off it multiple times, and the boy died on April 2.

During the sentencing, Gregor, 32, said he did not know his son had serious health problems after the strenuous exercise and argued that the punishment on the treadmill did not lead to his son’s death.

“I want to assure you that I did nothing on April 2nd to cause Corey’s death,” Gregor said in a statement to the court. According to law and crime. “I didn’t hurt my son. I loved him and I still love him. I regret not taking him to hospital sooner. I didn’t know how sick he was. I didn’t know. I just thought he was tired.”

Prosecutors said Gregor increased the speed of the treadmill while the boy was on it, causing the boy to fall multiple times.

About two weeks later, Micholo began feeling nauseous, slurring his speech and walking unsteadily.

“Corey was my life, my world, my everything. This monster’s actions are pathetic and disgusting and I wish him only the worst.”

Surveillance camera footage shows Micholo’s father carrying his limp body to his car on April 2 and taking him to a local hospital in Hackensack. New York Post.

He suffered a seizure during the CT scan and was pronounced dead a short time later.

A nurse working at Southern Ocean Medical Centre at the time said Micholo was unable to speak when he was brought to the facility, the newspaper reported.

An autopsy revealed he died from blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billheimer said Gregor will be subject to a “no early release statute,” which requires him to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Gregor was convicted in May of manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, avoiding a murder conviction that could have led to a life sentence.

The dead boy’s mother, Breanna Micholo, pleaded with Judge Guy Ryan to give Gregor the maximum sentence.

“Everything he did to Corey was done out of spite towards me,” she said, claiming he showed no remorse for his actions. “I can think of another reason why he was using Corey as a punching bag because he was crazy…He had no love for Corey whatsoever and to the defendant, Corey was simply a nuisance in his life.”

Gregor’s lawyers argued that he died from an infection rather than injuries sustained while running on the treadmill, but the jury rejected that argument.

“Corey was and remains my life, my world and my everything,” his mother said in court. “The actions of this monster are pitiful and abhorrent and I wish him only the worst possible outcome.”
