North Korean state media reported on Thursday that the tank successfully demonstrated its striking power in its first performance demonstration on Wednesday.
The training was reportedly aimed at testing the combat capabilities of tank crews. This was also carried out to help the troops familiarize themselves with combat operations in various tactical missions.
Meanwhile, South Korea and the United States concluded their annual joint exercises on Thursday. The exercise was aimed at deterring North Korean aggression.
South Korean battalion commander Cho Seung-jae said, “Through the training, we were able to fully prepare ourselves for the ability to overwhelm the enemy in joint combat operations.” “In particular, all unit members have gained confidence and confidence that together with the United States, we can fight against our enemies.”
South Korea insists the exercises are carried out solely for defense purposes.
