A former sniper from a team that once held the world record for the longest confirmed kill distance said there was “no doubt” the shooter at the Trump rally was the killer. Dallas Alexander, who served in the Canadian military for 17 years, posted to Instagram on Sunday his version of what really happened at the fateful Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I’m very familiar with how these things are structured and how they should work,” said Alexander, a sniper with about 14 years of experience that included guarding key world leaders such as the prime minister of Canada.
“And with what happened yesterday, I have no doubt in my mind that the shooter had support from some government agency, organization or part of our government,” the military veteran, now a country music singer, said in the video.
“As soon as I saw the aerial photos of the events that they’re describing, it just didn’t make sense to me,” he continued, referring to the rooftop where Crooks shot Trump from about 400 feet away.

Alexander was a member of Joint Task Force Two, which held the world record for the longest kill in 2017, at a distance of 2.2 miles in Iraq. In 2023, Ukrainian special forces soldiers defeated it.
According to the veteran sniper, it takes a “seventh grader” to realize that the roof where Crooks was located was the “most obvious” place to check.
“You don’t even have to be a sniper. This is the most obvious thing. This is the most obvious place in the world,” he said.
“You can think like a seventh grader and think, ‘What do I need to do to stay safe? Let’s look at these rooftops that are within rifle sight range,'” he added.
“Something happened,” Alexander continued.
