No orgies for ‘honorable’ Stephen Hawking, fellow scientist says

Stephen Hawking “doesn't go to orgies,” a fellow scientist claimed to the Post after the famed physicist revealed that he was “underage” at Jeffrey Epstein's Virgin Islands mansion. This comes after newly released court documents refer to allegations that he participated in a sex festival.

“He never mentioned it when we worked together. Epstein or something like that,” said cosmologist and theoretical physicist Laura Melsini-Houghton, who co-hosted a conference on black holes with Hawking in Sweden in 2015.

“Stephen was a very honorable man. … He wasn't the kind of guy who would go to orgies,” said the professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

And he wouldn't accept a free ride either.

Mersini-Houghton said a “very well-respected family” offered to arrange and pay for the severely disabled Hawking's travel to the conference in exchange for him speaking in his hometown. He recalled that he refused.

He was also “very respectful of the staff” during the conference, including the nurses who provided 24/7 care and paid per diems out of his own money.

According to the accusers, Epstein victimized the girls on his private island.

Hawking's name emerged in connection with the Epstein case this week as thousands of pages of court documents were unsealed.

The scientist passed away in 2018 at the age of 76.
