The Americans Are Under Siege, and Georgia Is at the Forefront
For quite some time now, Democrats and their media partners have misled the residents of Georgia. They insisted that Georgia didn’t have any sanctuary cities and mocked conservatives who raised concerns. They assured everyone that our communities were secure.
But now the truth is clear: they were downplaying a significant crisis.
In 2019, Biden initiated a wave of illegal immigration that transformed Georgia into a hotspot for it. President Trump swiftly took action to close the borders, yet many liberal cities across the nation still harbor millions of undocumented immigrants.
The Department of Homeland Security reports that several jurisdictions in Georgia are openly defying federal immigration laws, providing refuge to undocumented individuals, including those with criminal records. Regions like Athens-Clark, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton County, along with the cities of Athens and Atlanta, have become sanctuaries for those seeking such shelter in what is normally a conservative state.
This isn’t mere coincidence. It stems directly from Joe Biden’s reckless open border policy, which Georgia Democrats have supported every step of the way.
As Trump works tirelessly to reclaim the White House and restore law and order, Georgia Democrats, along with some feeble Republicans, are striving to maintain the chaos of the Biden administration. They want Georgia to become a sanctuary state. On the other hand, I want Georgia to be a land of law and order.
I am spearheading efforts in the Georgia Senate to completely abolish the sanctuary policy. I’ve introduced legislation aimed at holding these jurisdictions accountable. Yet, state Senate Democrats seem more inclined to protect undocumented immigrants than the families of Georgia.
These aren’t just poor voting choices; they’re acts of betrayal—and the consequences are dire.
When a young student like Laken Riley is killed by an undocumented immigrant who should have been deported, the blame doesn’t lie solely with the criminal. It rests with every politician who defends sanctuary policies, votes against enforcement, and sacrifices our community for their ideological pursuits.
Let’s be clear: if you’re in this country illegally and committing crimes, don’t think you can find refuge in Georgia—not now, not ever.
I am advocating for the elimination of all sanctuary protections and urging full cooperation with ICE and federal authorities. My goal is to make Georgia the toughest state in the nation regarding illegal immigration enforcement.
I’ve faced media attacks, pushback from the left, and protests from activists. But that doesn’t concern me.
My responsibility is not to placate them. My duty is to collaborate with President Trump to safeguard you.
We’re finally in a position to have a president who enforces our laws, prioritizes American workers, and puts citizen safety first. However, if places like Georgia are led by those who still endorse Biden’s open border agenda, our mission is bound to fail.
The sanctuary policies in Georgia were brought about by the Democrats. I intend to rectify this situation.
The lines are drawn clearly: we either uphold the rule of law or resign ourselves to lawlessness. We can either protect our borders or risk becoming a borderless nation.
I know where I stand. Do you?
Burt Jones has served as Georgia’s 13th Lieutenant Governor since 2023.
