Noah Clowney, Dariq Whitehead highlight Nets’ NBA Summer League roster

The rebuilding Nets are now fully focused on the future, with their two most recent first-round picks set to appear on their summer league roster.

The Nets did not have a pick in this year’s NBA Draft, but 2023 first-round picks Noah Clowney and Darik Whitehead will travel with them to Las Vegas for the summer, which begins on July 12 against the Pacers.

The Nets are scheduled to play five games in Sin City, with four already scheduled and one to be determined based on pool performance.

Brooklyn has already agreed to trade Mikal Bridges, the team’s second-leading scorer, to the Knicks, essentially exchanging five future first-round picks for one draft pick.

The trade could be officially announced as soon as Saturday once the league’s pause is lifted.

Clowney, who was selected 21st overall out of the University of Alabama last year, played in 23 games for the Nets as a rookie.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game, but played more games late in the season as the Nets lost their chance of a playoff spot.

Through seven games in April, Clowney averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 29.3 minutes per game.

He recorded his first double-double of his NBA career on April 3 against the Pacers, recording a season-high 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Whitehead, the 22nd overall pick in 2023 after one season at Duke, played in just two games for the Nets as a rookie after undergoing left shin surgery in January.

The 6-foot-7 wing also played 17 games for the Long Island team’s G League affiliate.

The Nets’ remaining 13 summer league roster are Jalen Wilson, Keyon Johnson, Zylan Cheatham, Tyrese Martin, David Muoka, Jacob Gilyard, Jalen Martin, Mark Armstrong, KJ Jones II, Khalid Moore and Tevian Jones.
