Noah Wyle Reflects on Learning from George Clooney
Noah Wyle, known for his role in ‘The Pit,’ recently spoke about the influence George Clooney had on him during their time together on the iconic ’90s medical drama ‘ER.’
The actors, along with others, were part of the original cast of “ER,” working closely from 1994 to 1999. They reunited at the 2026 AARP Adult Film Awards, where Wyle presented Clooney with the Best Actor award for his role in the 2025 comedy-drama “Jay Kelly.”
In a conversation with FOX News Digital, Wyle, 54, shared how Clooney, who is ten years older, served as a significant role model during their filming. He recalled, “It was always fun. George makes any room really enjoyable. He brings a professional yet cheerful vibe, taking his work seriously but never himself.”
Wyle emphasized that he learned a lot from Clooney and often applies those lessons to his current role on ‘The Pit,’ where he mentors younger ensemble members.
On ‘ER,’ Clooney portrayed Dr. Doug Ross, a senior attending physician, while Wyle played John Carter, a third-year medical student who evolves into an accomplished emergency room doctor throughout the series.
Wyle expressed his happiness in honoring Clooney at the awards ceremony, complimenting him on his continued achievements in the industry.
Wyle mentioned that participating in the AARP event, which celebrates films and performances meaningful to adults, particularly those over 50, is personally gratifying. He remarked, “It feels reassuring, like being at Longevity University.”
Currently, Wyle stars in “The Pit,” where he leads a team of young emergency doctors. His character, Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich, heads the ER at a fictional trauma center in Pittsburgh, affectionately called “Pit.” The show premiered in January 2025, quickly receiving acclaim and winning several awards, including Outstanding Drama Series at the 77th Emmy Awards.
Wyle noted the relevance of “The Pit” for older viewers facing issues of caregiving and health, commenting on the aging population and the concerns many baby boomers are beginning to confront.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Wyle expressed appreciation for his family’s support throughout his life and career. He mentioned the values instilled in him by his parents, which he hopes to pass down to his children to contribute positively to society.
