Noem (RS.D.) said this in an interview. news nation He said he would provide the public with evidence of cartel involvement in the state on Friday.

“They’re definitely starting to operate in South Dakota. We’ve seen Bandidos there, MS-13 is there as well,” Noem said. “They recruited members from the tribe.”

The governor has previously argued that cartel activity benefits tribal leaders. As a result, five South Dakota tribes expelled Noem from their territory. In Friday’s vote, a sixth member of the leadership committee also recommended expelling her.

She urged tribal governments to step up efforts to combat gang violence and held the Biden administration accountable for the alleged criminal activity.

“These are some of my poorest communities, and they want safe communities. They want their children safe,” she said. “They don’t want this kind of violence to happen outside their homes.”

“I’m the governor, so I don’t have jurisdiction there,” she continued. “If they’re a sovereign nation, the federal government has to intervene, and the tribal leaders have to intervene.”

Last month, Ali Moran, a spokesperson for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, said: the hill Many tribes “share the same feelings” about Noem, especially regarding the belief that she doesn’t respect or “completely understand” tribal sovereignty.

This follows recent backlash from both Republicans and Democrats after Noem admitted in a new book that she killed her dog, Cricket. “There’s no going back: The truth about what’s wrong with politics and how to move America forward.” This book can be purchased on Amazon.

“Cricket was a wire-haired pointer approximately 14 months old,” the governor wrote. She said the young dog had an “aggressive personality” and was supposed to help Noem on his hunting escape. She wrote about taking Cricket pheasant hunting with some experienced dogs. Like untrained dogs exploring new territory, crickets “ruined the hunt,” she says. The hunt, like most dogs do for the first time, “went crazy with excitement, chased all the birds, and had the time of my life.” Noem then recalls how she tried to control the dog with a shock collar, and even admits that she “hated” the dog. Despite this, Noem insisted the dog should be shot rather than surrendered to a pound or pet adoption center.
