Noem: NFL will have trouble resting at night after Bad Bunny's Super Bowl show

Homeland Security Secretary Comments on Super Bowl Halftime Performer

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem expressed strong feelings regarding the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny as the halftime act for the 2026 Super Bowl. She suggested that the NFL would have regrets about this decision.

In a statement, she said, “Well, they suck, and we win. God will bless us, and we will rise up and be proud of ourselves,” referencing conservative podcaster Benny Johnson’s comments.

Noem confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be present at the Super Bowl, scheduled for February in Santa Clara, California. “Since the Department of Homeland Security is tasked with ensuring safety, it’s my job to make sure everyone at the Super Bowl can enjoy it and leave safely,” she remarked.

She added, “We’re everywhere. We can enforce the law. I think people should come to the Super Bowl only if they are Americans who love this country and comply with the laws.”

The NFL has faced criticism from conservative voices and commentators over their decision to feature Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican artist previously indicated in an interview that he would not perform in the U.S. mainland due to concerns that his concerts could become targets for violence.

Prior to Friday’s announcements, White House officials indicated there were “no concrete plans” for deploying ICE personnel to the Super Bowl. White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt mentioned, “As far as I know, there is no solid plan for ICE at the Super Bowl right now. However, this administration will take action against illegal immigrants who are criminals whenever possible. We’re committed to doing the right thing for our country.”

Corey Lewandowski, a DHS advisor, stated on “The Benny Show” that she would not miss the Super Bowl, expressing, “There’s no safe place for illegal people in this country. Not at the Super Bowl or anywhere else.”
