Noem shares Kirk's last words to her before his assassination

Homeland Security Secretary Discusses Final Communication with Charlie Kirk

On Wednesday, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem shared insights during her appearance on “Pod Force One with Miranda Devine.” She talked about her last exchange with Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), who was tragically killed the previous week.

Noem mentioned that she received a text from Kirk the day before his death but missed it while traveling for work in another time zone. “His last message said we had to hold mayors and local officials accountable for their actions,” she explained. “It feels like he had been observing the nation as illegal acts continued to victimize people.”

Kirk, who was just 31 and a father of two, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10th. He was delivering remarks under a white pop-up tent when he was struck in the neck. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead later that day.

Noem expressed her regret about missing Kirk’s final text, reflecting on the sick feeling that followed. “I was in a meeting and missed it completely. I had told him I’d be on it,” she noted, visibly shaken by the thought.

During the discussion, Devine brought up comments from politicians and media personalities regarding Kirk’s assassination. She highlighted a perspective that political violence seems to be largely emanating from the left. “Do you think something can be done about that?” she asked Noem.

“It’s a possibility,” Noem replied. “We’re fortunate to have a president who speaks the truth. Having leaders who communicate honestly about the state of our nation is vital.”

Noem further stated that the events surrounding Kirk’s death have awakened many Americans. She indicated that the Department of Homeland Security plans to remain proactive in addressing these challenges. “People seem reluctant to seek the truth unless they actively research,” she commented. “Many recognize the ongoing attacks from extremists against conservatives trying to be heard.” She emphasized that understanding the reality of the situation is crucial for progress in the country.
