North Carolina fans are fed up with Bill Belichick: 'Most disappointing emotions'

North Carolina Fan Exodus During Clemson Game

North Carolina supporters certainly had their fill of the matchup with Clemson.

Before halftime in Saturday’s game, many fans had already left Kenan Stadium, trailing the Tar Heels 38-10.

With just two minutes remaining in the second quarter, North Carolina found itself down 35-3, prompting a camera angle change that revealed numerous fans walking away from the stands.

Mark Jones, speaking during the broadcast, remarked, “Oil leaks now. And now the stadium is leaking fans. 35-3, (Cade) Klubnik just threw his fourth touchdown pass, and the meter is still running.”

Jones further reflected, “So far, Bill Belichick’s strategies have been pretty disappointing, but I think this feels more controlled than the TCU game.”

Shockingly, the exodus continued after halftime, with the stadium nearly deserted by the third quarter; most who remained were Clemson supporters.

Aside from the noticeable loss of attendance, ESPN featured an interview with Tar Heel students discussing Belichick’s football program while suggesting connections with the earlier TCU losses.

Anna Yi, a North Carolina student, shared her sentiments about a prior defeat against TCU, referring to it as “one of the saddest feelings” during her college experience.

“I attended that game,” she mentioned. “It was genuinely one of the saddest moments I’ve had in college. Failing during midterms is one thing, but this is in another league.”

In the fourth quarter, the broadcast team revisited Yi’s interview, with Jones joking that she might need some help before she faces her next academic challenge.

“She might need her own tutor at this point, but let’s be honest, North Carolina might want that for now—a makeup test,” Jones added.

Roddy Jones also chimed in, sympathizing with Yi: “Every Saturday feels like a test, and North Carolina has just not done well this season.”

Overall, North Carolina’s recent showings against other strong teams, including TCU and UCF, have proven far from competitive.
