A North Carolina woman died after becoming “entangled” in a baggage claim conveyor belt at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Airport surveillance cameras captured the woman entering a staff-only area of Terminal 5 at around 2:30 a.m. Found He was found unresponsive around 7:30 a.m., NBC Chicago reported.
Chicago Fire Department officials later said the woman had become “entangled” in the conveyor belt at baggage claim and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her a suicide, and the official cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation due to hanging.
The woman was identified Friday as 57-year-old Virginia Christine Vinton, of Waxhaw, North Carolina.
A Department of Labor spokesman confirmed that Vinton was not an airport employee.
It is unclear how she managed to gain access to restricted areas within the terminal.
