North Dakota State’s wild interception of Shedeur Sanders is worth a second look

College football is back, and in a big way.

Colorado opens its 2024 schedule against North Dakota State, and both Shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter Jr., potential first-round draft picks next spring, have been impressive early in the game.

But even though it's only Week 1, it may have been the Bison who gave us the most amazing interception of the season.

Colorado received the second half kickoff and was trailing 20-17 early in the third quarter, but quickly marched deep into North Dakota territory thanks to a long pass from Sanders to Hunter.

As the broadcast pointed out, Hunter used his left arm a little…creatively, let's just say, and could have gotten away with it, but the pass went through and advanced the Buffaloes deep into Bison territory.

But they were turned away by an act of sabotage that is not seen every day.

With Colorado facing third down and goal, Sanders looked to the three-receiver side of the formation and threw a pass to his left on a quick route concept, but the pass deflected off the leg of a North Dakota State defender lying face-down in the end zone and into the arms of Bison linebacker Nick Kubitz.

Here's another way to look at the play:

Colorado managed to get a stop on its next possession, and Sanders and Hunter scored their second touchdowns of the game on the ensuing possession to take a 24-20 lead.

But we may not see any crazier interceptions this season.
