North Dakota waitress, mother of 6 Brittany Baker confronts customer who allegedly stole her tips: ‘That money is mine’

A mother of six who works at a restaurant was forced to confront an elderly man who allegedly stole cash tips left by previous customers.

Brittany Baker was hard at work at a Perkins restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota, on Saturday when she claimed a man snatched cash from a table right next to her booth.

“I was at my computer and I saw him doing this and I thought, 'Oh my god!' Baker shared with Valley News Live. “I had no idea what to do.”

Baker claimed the man then got up and walked around the restaurant, appearing to look for cash at other tables. in TikTok video.

The server's colleague was hesitant to make a fuss, but insisted she request a refund.

Video taken Baker walked up to a man who was sitting in a window booth with his wife and demanded money.

“What I was saying is, I realize you took money off this table, and that money is mine,” Baker said in the now-viral video. “This is the tip I took from the table, so I can't serve you with peace of mind until I get it back.''

The customer grabbed his wallet, handed her a few dollars, and mumbled an inaudible reply.

“Is that all there is?'' Mr. Baker asked.

“That’s all there was,” the customer replied.

Baker took the money and left, but she believes he did not give her the full tip she was owed.

“I feel like he didn't give me all my money back because it was like he stripped the money off another pile of money,” Baker told the outlet. “He gave me $2 back. I don't think he gave me the full amount back because there were definitely five and something else.”

Baker suspects this wasn't the first time he smelled cash at the casual dining chain.

“One of my co-workers told me that was the couple she tried to leave last weekend,” Baker said.

He didn't leave a tip.

“This was very intentional,” Baker claimed in the video. “Old man or not, he knew exactly what he was doing.”

“And I work in North Dakota, so I only make $4.86 an hour, so tips mean a lot to me. I keep my kids at home,” she added.

Some social media users praised Baker's bravery in confronting the elderly customer, while others suggested he would have been removed from the restaurant.

Another TikTok user said, “I would have kicked him out. Old people should not be thieves,” while a third added, “That's why I always tip the server directly.” Ta.
