Recent cell phone footage has revealed a shocking incident in Florida where a confrontation over a parking space resulted in the death of an Army veteran. Bart DiGuglielmo, 62, was fatally shot in the Walmart parking lot on West McNabb Road in North Lauderdale around 12:28 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities reported that an argument broke out between DiGuglielmo and a woman over the parking spot prior to the shooting.
The woman remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, claiming that she acted in self-defense when she fired the weapon. Although her identity hasn’t been disclosed, homicide detectives are forward the case to the Broward County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges should be filed.
Details about what caused the altercation are still unclear, and it’s also uncertain whether the authorities will support the woman’s self-defense claim. Prosecutors will review the findings of the investigation and decide on any potential charges.
Footage from the incident shows DiGuglielmo approaching the woman, who seems to be holding a cell phone. As he gets closer, she raises her other arm, appearing to point a gun at him. A moment later, a gunshot can be heard. Another video angle captures DiGuglielmo falling to the ground, apparently injured, with visible blood on his shirt.
At this point, the investigation is ongoing, and DiGuglielmo was transported to Broward Health Medical Center but unfortunately did not survive.
