It was quite a hectic week in Carlsbad, with daily events of the NCAA Women’s Championships unfolding. On Wednesday, we saw the intense matchup featuring the Northwestern Wildcats, and after much anticipation, the Stanford Cardinal emerged as the victor.
Yes, the Northwestern Wildcats women’s golf team has claimed the national championship!
It wasn’t an easy win, as it took all five games to reach that conclusion, but Northwestern certainly showcased their strength in a remarkable fashion.
Stanford was a top contender in the tournament, so their performance on Wednesday wasn’t particularly surprising. Now, the Northwest has secured their title and the accolades that come with it.
Diana Lee had the potential to seal the victory with a birdie putt on the par 5 at the 18th hole. She aimed for a par putt that would affirm their win, while Stanford’s Andrea Levelta missed her birdie attempt. Lee managed to sink the par, leading to a memorable celebration shortly after.
The men’s NCAA Tournament is set to kick off on Friday, marking the conclusion of their college golf season.
Congratulations to Northwestern!
