An outraged job seeker was in disbelief when he learned during his interview that he would be paid $12 an hour for a position at TJ Maxx.
Although his full name has not been disclosed, a man who was passing by said, @sobeatmyasshe said on social media in front of 362,000 viewers, “I won’t take that shitty job.” On TikTok.
“I had an interview at TJ Maxx the other day and everything went well after that, but he ended up [employer] I’m told I get paid weekly at $12 an hour,” said the applicant, who appears to be from Pennsylvania.
“In my head, I’m thinking, oh, I’m not going to take this shitty job. That’s why their clothes are so cheap. [they’re] We’re not paying those people,” he continued his rant.
The applicant said he ended up getting the job after TJ Maxx called him back and offered him the job, but he has been second-guessing his decision ever since.
“I’m really confused. I don’t know why I couldn’t say no to this man on the phone right now, even though I knew I didn’t want this job.” Now, I’m probably not going to just show up because I don’t even know what to do. ” @sobeatmyass I said confused.
“Because it’s $12 an hour, and you can’t even mop it for $12 an hour.”
At the end of his fiery remarks, the now-stressed employee asked viewers to tell him exactly what he should do.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, TJ Maxx’s starting minimum wage in Pennsylvania is $7.25 per hour.

This popular retailer is known for selling name-brand clothing, appliances, jewelry, and more at discounted prices, and is known for paying minimum wage for non-manager roles.
Many viewers told the new employee that if he was currently unemployed, he should keep his job, but if he was still not satisfied with his salary, he should wait and see.
“It’s better to have some money than no money at all! And I’m paid weekly. I’ll do it until I find something better! Good luck!!” she commented cheerfully.
“Well, you already said yes. If you’re not working, work there and keep applying and interviewing elsewhere,” another advised.
Others noted the need for this disgruntled man to speak out and negotiate lower wages.
“Hey, we have to negotiate. We’d love to do that, but we need $15 an hour. They’re starting at the bottom, but they usually have permission from the company to move up to a certain level.” Yes,” one person wrote.
“Call back and tell them you got an even bigger offer. Sometimes they come back to raise your offer!” another person responded.
