NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson spoke out about the shooting of Ricky Pearsall on “The Nightcap,” saying “nothing is worth a life.”
Pearsall was shot in the chest while trying to fight off an attempted robber who was trying to take his Rolex.
The two NFL legends hosted the show just hours after the incident.
“OK, he's fine. Another lesson learned from this: Nothing is worth life,” Johnson responded after being informed by Sharp that Pearsall was in stable condition.
“Just buy another Rolex. If someone is trying to steal your car, just buy another car.”
As the conversation continued, Sharp refuted Johnson's statements, asking, “If someone comes up to you and they don't have a gun or a knife and they say, 'Ocho, let go,' how easily can you take it?”
He replied, “Yes! If someone comes to you and says, 'I'll take anything you want,' you already know they have something.”
The 49ers rookie was shot at approximately 3:37 p.m. in San Francisco's Union Square when a 17-year-old boy attempted to rob Pearsall at gunpoint to steal his luxury watch.
A struggle ensued over the gun, which discharged multiple times, with one shot striking Pearsall in the chest.
“First of all I want to thank God for protecting my son,” the player's mother, Erin Pearsall, wrote on Facebook, according to The Athletic. “My son is very lucky God protected him. He was shot in the chest but the bullet exited through his back. I thank God it spared his vital organs.”
The Arizona State and Florida wide receiver was selected 31st overall by the Niners in this year's draft.
Pearsall missed all of the 49ers' preseason games this summer because of a shoulder injury.
