Nottingham Forest’s appeal against a four-point deduction from the Premier League for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) has been rejected.
Forrest said he was “deeply disappointed” when the suspension was handed down in March, claiming spending restrictions on promoted clubs had undermined the league’s “integrity and competitiveness”.
The Premier League’s appeals committee heard the case and the verdict means Forest are three points above the relegation zone with two games remaining. They took a big step towards remaining in the Premier League with their win against Sheffield United last Saturday.

Forest smashed through their £61m allowance with £34.5m. Premier League clubs are allowed to lose £105m over three years, but because Forest spent two of those years in the Championship, their allowable loss was limited to £61m. The club’s allowable losses will be reduced by £22 million for each season he spends in the EFL over his three-year accounting period.
