Novak Djokovic abruptly splits with coach Goran Ivanišević

The standards are high for Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic announced on Wednesday morning that he has parted ways with coach Goran Ivanisevich after a less-than-stellar start to the 2024 season.

“Goran and I decided a few days ago to stop working together,” Djokovic wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of them together. “Our chemistry on the court has had its ups and downs, but our friendship has always been rock-solid. Ivanisevic – a hard-serving left-handed player who won Wimbledon in 2001 – joined Djokovic’s team in 2018 and became his full-time coach in March 2022.

Djokovic, 36, has remained at the top of the sport for most of that time, with a record-setting 24 Grand Slam titles since 2018, surpassing his Big Three rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. I won 12 of them.

Ivanisevic worked alongside Djokovic’s mentor Marian Vajda when he was first hired by the Serbian star.

It is unclear who will be Djokovic’s next full-time coach to replace Ivanisevic.
