Number One Scottie Scheffler Says Jesus Defines Him, Not Golf

World-renowned golfer Scottie Scheffler has strongly expressed his Christian faith, making headlines ahead of this year’s Masters Tournament with his powerful statement, “I believe in Jesus.”

The 27-year-old athlete, who has held the world No. 1 ranking for more than 80 weeks, became a hot topic on social media after making heartfelt remarks at a press conference on Tuesday.

Asked about how much golf “defines” him, Scheffler said he hopes golf doesn’t take up too much of who he is because it’s a “selfish” sport. Rather than being defined by his great career, he is centered around his beliefs.

“I’m a faithful man. I believe in the Creator. I believe in Jesus. I think at the end of the day, that’s what most characterizes me,” the professional told reporters.

“I feel like I’ve been given the platform to compete and show my talent. That’s not what I did. I think a few years ago I was sitting here doing an interview after the 2022 Masters.” he continued. I didn’t know what was going to happen. ” I was very anxious that morning. I didn’t know what was going to happen and it’s hard to explain the feeling. ”

He braced himself and said, “But I think that’s what most defines me. It’s my faith.”

“I believe in one Creator. I believe I’m called to come out here and do my best and compete and glorify God. That’s it.”

According to the golf icon, the sport is “just what I do.”

After winning the 2022 Masters, there was little that could stop Scheffler from going strong this year, the third day of the tournament, except his family.

The golfer and his high school sweetheart, Meredith Scheffler, are expecting their first child in a few weeks, but he said he is ready to move out of the house “in a heartbeat” if his wife gives birth.

“I can’t say I’m too worried about her delivery. I haven’t seen any early signs yet. But pregnancy is weird, right? It can happen at any time. Well, I’m trying to keep the lines of communication open. Please, so she can contact me if she needs to,” he reportedly told reporters. CNN.
