Nungaray Killing Caused by ‘Blind Catch and Release Program’

On Tuesday’s episode of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg (D) discussed Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) reelection campaign and his support for the murder of Jocelyn Nangaray, saying that in the Nangaray case, “the problem is that the authorities had no idea who they were capturing and who they were releasing,” and that “this was, in effect, a blind capture and release program.”

Ogg said, “The total lack of knowledge about who is being caught and who is being released is what has led to this. If the defendants had been detained and their backgrounds properly investigated in their countries of origin, we might have known more about them. But as it stands, this is a blind capture and release program. These things, along with very bad bail laws that ban cash bail, are putting our nation and our citizens at risk. As the head of law enforcement, I cannot stand by and not fight back. This is a bipartisan issue and our problems can be solved. We just need to work together bipartisanally. And there are a lot of things we don’t understand.” [agree] But we agree and we are going to resolve this issue.”
