Nurse Cleared After Exposing Doctor’s Comments on Charlie Kirk
A nurse from New Jersey has been cleared of any wrongdoing after an incident involving a doctor who was reportedly overheard celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Lexi Quenzl, aged 33 and working at Englewood Hospital, was near the nurse’s station when she heard about Kirk being shot in the neck during an event in Utah.
She expressed her disbelief, saying, “That’s shocking to me. I was so angry and upset.”
Reports indicate that Dr. Matthew John, the surgeon in question, made celebratory remarks about Kirk’s injury in front of staff and patients. “I hate Charlie Kirk. He deserved it because he came here,” he allegedly said.
On Monday, Quenzl spoke out and reiterated the gravity of the doctor’s comments, which had disturbed her and others present. “He just stood there celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death,” she stated.
Following the backlash, Dr. John reportedly offered to take his colleagues out for lunch to smooth things over. Quenzl later shared on Instagram that she found his remarks unacceptable.
She went to hospital management about the incident, suggesting that her initial suspension was unwarranted. Fortunately, a hospital investigation vindicated her, while Dr. John resigned from his position.
Englewood Health confirmed that they had conducted a thorough investigation and noted that Quenzl was expected to return to work. They emphasized their commitment to providing a respectful and safe work environment for all staff.
Dr. John’s name seems to have been removed from hospital directories, and he is no longer listed on the official Englewood Health website.
Quenzl is pursuing legal action against the hospital and Dr. John, claiming her suspension was unjustified. In her lawsuit, she criticizes the doctor’s comments as a violation of medical ethics.
