Florida Nurse Pleads in Sex Assault Case
A Florida nurse’s situation took a dramatic turn after her 15-year-old stepson was sexually assaulted by her husband. This unsettling revelation emerged on Wednesday.
Alexis von Yates, 35, faced repercussions in early September, opting for a plea deal that allowed her to avoid charges of sexual battery. Instead, she accepted lesser charges of indecent and lewd battery involving minors aged 12 to 16.
Since the incident in July 2024, von Yates has separated from her husband, Frank Yates.
Reports indicate that von Yates had allegedly pursued her stepson during the week leading up to the assault, joking about inappropriate topics and expressing her sexual interests.
During the incident, while their two young children were asleep, she is said to have cornered her stepson, kissing him on the neck before sexually assaulting him.
Frank caught the pair in the act as the boy attempted to escape to the bathroom. While he confronted his wife for the truth, von Yates reportedly tried to downplay the situation.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained, the teenager rejected his stepmother’s narrative, which led to shock for Frank.
Later, he took the boy to his grandparents’ house for safety, lamenting about the impact this event would have on his life and discouraging the boy from informing his biological mother.
Three months after the incident, in October 2024, the boy anonymously reported the assault to authorities.
During the court’s verdict, the victim’s biological mother expressed her anguish about what her son had experienced, saying it sometimes made her feel physically ill. She conveyed her determination that despite the trauma, he still has a promising future ahead filled with love and hope.
Von Yates will be required to register as a sex offender for a decade and will have to complete 200 hours of community service following her prison term. The couple, who married in 2017, shares two young children.
