Nurse Fired After Controversial Remarks About White House Press Secretary

A nurse in Florida has been dismissed from her position after making comments about White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, expressing a desire for her to experience severe complications during childbirth. Lexi Lawler, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, shared her thoughts in a TikTok video.

Lawler stated, “As a labor and delivery nurse, I am so happy to wish Caroline Leavitt a 4th degree rupture. I hope you tear it apart from bow to stern and never do anything normal again, you—,” she continued, expressing her sentiments rather strongly.

Patti Abril, who oversees media relations at Baptist Health, confirmed on Thursday that Lawler is no longer employed by the hospital. She emphasized that the comments made on social media by employees do not align with the hospital’s values or the professional standards expected of healthcare workers. Abril noted, “After an expedited review, this individual is no longer employed by our health system.”

She further commented, “While we respect individual opinions, there is no place in the medical field for words or actions that compromise a caregiver’s capacity to provide compassionate and impartial care. We are dedicated to fostering an environment of trust, professionalism, and respect for everyone.”

Leavitt recently announced that she and her husband, Nick, are expecting a daughter in May 2026, while their first son, Nico, is due in July 2024. Attempts to reach the White House and Lawler for additional comments have been made, albeit without success.

Lawler has declined to provide any statements regarding the situation when approached by Newsweek for comment.
