Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) stated that nurse Nicole Easterling in Florida was terminated after expressing support for the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Easterling, who was listed as a registered nurse at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, made a post on social media indicating her “support” for Kirk’s murder, further expressing a wish for him to be “tortured.”
“I’m rooting for an assassination. I don’t mind saying that. He was a bastard. He deserved to be among the dead and should have been tortured,” the post read.
On Sunday, a popular account on TikTok shared a screenshot of the nurse’s comments, questioning how someone with such views could work in healthcare and raising concerns about potential biases against Trump supporters. This sparked online calls for Easterling’s dismissal.
“Update: Dismissal,” Senator Fine reported in a post on X, adding a simple, “Next.”
In response to the situation, a user on X suggested that Easterling’s nursing license should be revoked, to which the lawmaker replied, “Don’t worry.”
It appears that Easterling’s LinkedIn profile has been deleted since the incident.
According to reports, Fine is encouraging the public to report individuals in government roles or businesses receiving government funds who publicly celebrate Kirk’s assassination.
“People celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death must be removed from civil society,” the lawmaker stated in a post on Sunday, following his formal charge.
He further emphasized that anyone working in government roles, especially in Florida District 6, should refrain from publicly endorsing violence. “If you doubt my seriousness, I have already dismissed two state university board presidents,” he remarked. “Do these individuals want a conflict? Congratulations. They’ve got it.”
