Details regarding this new phase are slated to be finalized by the companies in the following weeks.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed, “Computing is foundational,” suggesting that the infrastructure will be crucial for future economies. He believes it will leverage Nvidia’s innovations to pave the way for new breakthroughs in AI, ultimately benefiting individuals and businesses alike.
This announcement comes just days after Intel revealed difficulties and pledged $5 billion to its own ventures.
Additionally, OpenAI and its partner Microsoft recently announced a non-binding agreement that allows OpenAI to potentially reshape itself into a profit-driven entity.
Earlier in October 2024, Nvidia supported OpenAI with a funding round of $6.6 billion, and there are concerns that such a substantial investment from some of the world’s leading companies could trigger antitrust investigations.
