Nvidia’s CEO Predicts Ubiquitous AI Growth
Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that the artificial intelligence wave is just at the beginning of its journey and is far from reaching its maximum potential. He forecasts a decade of substantial growth in the AI sector.
During a recent interview on “The Claman Countdown,” hosted by Liz Claman, Huang emphasized that the AI revolution is only just starting. “AI is going to be everywhere,” he noted. “We have a lot of room for growth ahead.”
He continued, “It will take time, honestly, but we have plenty of time. I think we’re in the early phases of about ten years of growth, and while some might perceive there’s a lot of capacity being established, it’s actually a minor portion of what the world needs. The demand for computing power vastly exceeds the capacity being added this year and next.”
AI Developments and Market Dynamics
Huang mentioned the company’s expectations regarding its revenue from China, predicting none for this quarter, though he anticipates an overall revenue increase. When questioned about the reasons behind the ongoing situation after previous administrations opened some sales channels, he explained that Nvidia is awaiting customer decisions on purchase volumes.
“We’ve issued some specific licenses for a few customers, but ultimately, it will be up to them to determine how much they wish to buy,” Huang clarified.
Concerning fears that China is utilizing U.S. technology to foster its AI sector, Huang argued that such concerns are misguided. “They certainly have their own technology,” he said, adding that the landscape involves more than just chips and models. “It’s a multi-layered industry, and companies at every level ought to compete globally to maintain U.S. leadership in AI.”
He expressed regret over the decision to limit U.S. access to the Chinese market, suggesting it has backfired.
The Implications of AI on Employment
Discussing the potential job displacement due to AI, Huang suggested that we should consider both the nature and purpose of work. He anticipates that while some positions may disappear, many new roles will emerge, altering existing job functions in significant ways.
He observed, however, that AI is already generating jobs in the U.S. through the construction of factories, data centers, and other facilities needed to support this evolving technology. “The volume of skilled jobs we are adding throughout the country is remarkable,” he said, expressing hope for a revitalized industrial landscape in the U.S.
Looking Ahead
Huang also noted that a major evolution in AI is expected this year, heralding breakthroughs in artificial general intelligence. “We’re witnessing a significant increase in AI applications across enterprises, so it’s an exciting period,” he remarked.
The complete interview with Huang is set to air at 3 PM ET on Thursday.
