Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang shares thanks following the release of an Israeli employee by Hamas.

Nvidia CEO Expresses Gratitude for Employee’s Release

On Monday, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, wrote a heartfelt letter to the company’s employees about the release of Abinatan Or, an Israeli staff member who had been held captive by Hamas for two years.

Abinatan Orr was attending the Nova music festival near Kibbutz Rayyim on October 7, 2023, with his partner, Noa al-Ghamani, when they were both captured during a terrorist attack by Hamas. Al-Ghamani was rescued in June 2024 during a military operation and since then has been a vocal advocate for bringing Orr and other hostages home.

Finally, on Monday, after negotiations led to a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Orr was released along with other hostages who had survived their ordeal.

“I’m deeply moved and grateful to share that our colleague Abinatan Orr has been released to the Red Cross in Gaza,” Huang expressed in his letter. “After enduring two unimaginable years, he is home.”

Reports indicate that Orr joined Nvidia in 2022, following his graduation in electrical engineering from Ben-Gurion University, working as an engineer within Nvidia’s VLSI group, which is crucial to their semiconductor design operations in Israel.

Huang highlighted the strength and hope of Orr’s mother, Dizza, noting that she inspired many during these tough times.

Additionally, he mentioned the solidarity among Nvidia’s staff in Israel, stating they were dedicated to ensuring Orr’s safe return. “That unity reflects the best of us,” he added.

“Many Nvidia employees have displayed remarkable bravery in a time of conflict while protecting their communities,” Huang noted. He recognized the deep pain and loss experienced by many, mentioning specific tragedies within the Nvidia family, including the deaths of employees Amit Chayut and Daniel Waldman, alongside the anguish that has affected Jewish, Druze, and Arab families.

He expressed a shared sorrow that transcends divisions: “The loss is immeasurable. Grief knows no borders or faiths. We grieve together, wishing for peace and a future free from fear,” Huang wrote.

Upon his release, Orr reunited with his girlfriend, Noah Algamani, eliciting relief and joy from the entire Nvidia family. Huang concluded with a hopeful note for all those impacted by the conflict, wishing for recovery and lasting peace.

An Nvidia representative chose not to comment on Huang’s letter.
