NY DA refuses to stop for speeding, drives back to her house and gives cops hard time

A district attorney in upstate New York says when she was caught speeding, she refused to stop for police, drove back to her home, called the police chief and chased her home, according to body camera footage. I complained about the “hole-in” police officers who came.

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Dawley acknowledged Monday that he was driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone on Phillips Road in Webster, less than a half-mile from the neighborhood. WHAM reported.

Officers followed her home and issued Doorley a ticket, which she received. The prosecutor’s office found her guilty in district court on Tuesday. “I believe I accept responsibility for my actions and did not intend to use my position to gain advantage.”

But body camera footage released Friday by Webster police shows a tense exchange between Dawley and the officer in a driveway in which the district attorney appears to be doing just that. is.

When the officer told her she had scored a 55 out of 35, she responded to him, clearly annoyed, “I don’t really care.”

She got on the phone and called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeyer and asked, “Can you please just tell him to leave me alone?”

Dooley refused to come outside the garage to speak with officers. She handed the officer her phone to speak to the chief, and she told him to “leave now.” An officer can be heard over the phone explaining what happened.

She then burst into the house against the officers’ orders.

When the man explained he was trying to police traffic, the woman retorted: “I know the law better,” the video shows.

“Why are you so hostile to me? I’m doing my job. Are you saying you’re a prosecutor?” the officer asks at one point.

“I’m the DA,” she retorted emphatically, taking her badge from her car and calling him “the no-hole.”

At one point, a police officer asked her why she was in such a hurry and she replied, “I didn’t feel like stopping on Phillips Street at 5:30,” to which the police officer replied: you know it. ”

“What do you want us to do instead of doing our job because it’s you?” the officer asks Doorley.

She asks him to write her a ticket, but he reminds her that she refused to stop.

“That’s not a traffic ticket. That’s an arrestable crime, Sandra. You know that,” the officer said.

In another clip, Dolly can be heard saying: I’ve been dealing with murder cases in the city,” he apologized.

In a statement provided to WHAM after the video was released, Dooley said, “No one, not even the district attorney, is above the rule of law or even the traffic laws.”

“Anyone who knows me understands without a doubt that I have dedicated my entire 33-year career to the safety of this community,” she continued. “My work to ensure the safety and respect of law enforcement has been demonstrated time and time again. I stand by my job and support Monroe County’s commitment to public safety.”
