A Muslim leader in upstate New York has called on student activists to “remove” an openly pro-Israel Columbia University professor who will return to the embattled Ivy League this fall after a year of anti-Semitic hate.
Tom Fachin, a Vassar College graduate and imam living in Utica Pleaded About Business School Professor Shai Davidi During the webinar on August 20th Various student groups at Columbia University promoted and broadcast a campaign they called “Islamic Political Action.”
“How do we embarrass this guy, Shai Davidi? How do we put him in a position of danger?” asked Facchin, 35. “If we can catch a guy like that and make an example of him, maybe we can silence 100 more people.”
Born in Jersey, Fatchin renounced Christianity as an atheist, met Marx at university and converted to Islam in 2010.
Davidei alerted Columbia officials to Imam's lengthy remarks, and the university launched an investigation using outside security experts who concluded that the remarks “did not create a situation requiring increased security measures,” according to an email sent to Davidei by Gerald Lewis, vice chancellor for public safety, and viewed by The Washington Post.
Undaunted by the imam's “direct threats,” the professor told the Post: “I will not be silent. I know I am speaking the truth.”
“I feel like they are targeting me with the express purpose of bringing me down, getting me fired and fabricating complaints about me.”
Davidei gained notoriety last October when he posted a video in which he criticized the university for failing to protect Jewish students from terrorist-supporting mobs and vowed to never send his daughter to Columbia.
The Israeli-born, untenured, married father of two was banned from campus last semester and is under investigation by Columbia University's Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. He plans to return this fall.

A Columbia spokesman said, “Discrimination and harassment have no place at Columbia, including hate speech, calls for violence and attacks on individuals or groups on the basis of their beliefs, ancestry, religion, gender identity or other identity or affiliation.” Facine did not respond to a request for comment.
