New York State Senator Zohran Mamdani (D) cried out at the Czar Tom Homan border in response to the arrest and detention of Palestinian activist and former Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil.

How many more New Yorkers will you restrain? How many more New Yorkers are free? Do you believe in the first amendment? Do you believe in Tom Homan the first amendment?”
“Today I stood up to “border emperor” Tom Homan, who came to Albany to make a Trump bid. It promotes massive deportation, attacks on working-class New Yorkers, and justifies unfair detention for legal permanent residents and fathering,” Mamdani wrote.
The Mamdani conflict came when Homan joined Albany Republicans. New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) has issued a warning that sanctuary cities will see “more agents in the community” if they fail to work with the Trump administration on “crashing for immigration.” According to New York Post.
“The sanctuary cities are trying to get exactly what they don't want, they're more agents in the community,” Homan said.
As previously reported by Joel Pollak of Breitbart News, US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Khalil, who “leaded an extreme protest” at Columbia University on Saturday.

As previously reported by Neil Munro of Breitbart News, Democrats such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omared (D-MN), Deria Ramirez (D-IL), and Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) have said, “We have signed a letter signed in a recent tort tort contract. Khalil – a legal permanent resident of the United States.”
Democrats have criticised Halil's arrest and detention, but “Trump and his representatives are on solid legal basis, according to immigration lawyers.”
According to immigration lawyers, Trump and his representatives are solid legal grounds. Although Halil is not a citizen, he has a green card that allows him to live in the United States due to the expected demand for citizenship being held. However, green cards do not offer any additional legal protections than those granted to tourists.
Halil was arrested and detained after he and his wife returned to their “owning apartment” at the university and was informed by a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent that he was “in detention due to the student visa being revoked.” According to NBC New York.
On Tuesday, White House press chief Caroline Leavitt issued a statement saying that the Trump administration has no intention of surveillance with the pro-terrorist organization that tolerated individuals who have the privilege to study in the “America” and subsequently killed Americans.”
