We take punches in the face, but we continue to find a way to get back up and continue to do so.” will continue.”
Next up, Mendoza's clutch club will return home to Citi Field in Flushing for Games 3, 4 and 5 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About the New York Mets' playoff advancement
The Mets weren't supposed to be competitive this season.
Team owner Steve Cohen canceled 2024 last August after trading senior co-aces Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. “Basically, our current vision is for 2025-2026, at the earliest 2025, or even 2026,” he told reporters. We're going to trade around that. ”
During the offseason, new general manager David Stearns beefed up the innings-eating rotation of Luis Severino and Sean Manaea. He also signed journeyman middle infielder Jose Iglesias to a minor league contract.
Still, 2024 did not start as expected. The Mets started the year 0-5.
However, they never gave up. And after Grimas threw out the first pitch on June 12, the team broke down in tears and refused to look back.
On the final day of the season, they dramatically defeated the Atlanta Braves and magically defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on their way to the 2023 World Series, earning them a Wild Card spot in the National League.
Once the Mets entered the postseason, their team of destiny ignited, easily defeating the highly anticipated Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Series.
Finally, we move on to the recently wrapped NLDS. In Game 1, manager Carlos Mendoza surprisingly started Kodai Senga, who was immediately hit with a home run by leadoff batter Kyle Schwarber.
All hope was not lost. As they have done all summer, the Mets came back to claw back with a come-from-behind victory on the road. Despite losing the second leg after building up an impressive lead, the Magic club won at home in dramatic fashion.
Now, after two back-and-forth games at Dodger Stadium, the Mets will head home for three big games at Citi Field.
Luis Severino will start in Game 3 for the Amazons against Walker Buehler. Mendoza has not yet announced who will pitch for Game 4, with Dodgers forward Dave Roberts selecting Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
