Memorial Day weekend will be a mix of good and bad for New Yorkers.
The Big Apple and surrounding areas will see sunshine and warm temperatures through Sunday evening, but then rain is expected to begin to fall, putting a damper on Memorial Day.
“Unfortunately, rain is expected in the area on Monday, which is the actual holiday,” Fox Forecast Center meteorologist Stephanie Van Oppen told The Post Friday.
Storms are expected to move into the tri-state area on Monday, but the forecast for Saturday and Sunday remains sunny, creating perfect conditions for getting outside.
“The good news is that Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with temperatures in the 80s,” Van Oppen added.
Scattered rain is expected to move into the region Sunday evening through the holiday Monday, with rain and thunderstorms also expected in Connecticut and New Jersey.
“Rain will begin falling late Sunday night. Rain will begin moving in from the east during the early overnight hours and continue through the day on Monday,” Van Oppen said.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the 70s Fahrenheit throughout the day, although a rainstorm could put a damper on the unofficial start of summer.
“It may not be rain all the time in all areas. It looks like thunderstorms will be intermittent, but it looks like there’s a pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon,” Van Oppen said.
