A boat capsed on a channel between Brooklyn and Staten Island on Sunday afternoon – killing two people and wounding three more.
According to a NYPD spokesperson, one of the vessel's residents called 911 around noon, and told officers that they somehow turned it over on the Ambrose Channel, the main transport lane that slices two boroughs. He spoke.
Police divers and the U.S. Coast Guard descended on a watery scene about two miles from a refreshing Queens spot, pulling five people from a submerged ship and rushing to an area hospital.
According to the NYPD, two people were declared dead, the other two were listed in critical condition, while the fifth was not seriously injured.
Police did not release details about the boat's name or what happened before it capsized.
