NYC crash leaves pedestrian dead after two cars run them over in a double hit-and-run in Queens

A pedestrian has died after being hit by two cars in Queens, police said. The drivers of two cars sped away Sunday night, including one that was hit as the vehicle lay injured in the roadway.

Police said the man was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Hempstead Avenue near 223rd Street around 8 p.m., then was struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound on the same street as he lay on the road. It is said that he was hit.

Neither driver remained at the scene.

According to the New York City Police Department, the man, a man in his 20s, suffered injuries all over his body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's identity has not yet been released as authorities work to notify loved ones.

The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests had been made as of early Monday morning.
