Jenna Bush Hager Discusses Speedos on “Today with Jenna and Friends”
In a recent episode of “Today with Jenna and her Friends,” Jenna Bush Hager shared her thoughts about fathers wearing speedos. During a segment titled “The Split of the Internet,” she and guest co-host Dwyane Wade talked about NYC dads who became popular online for their push to “normalize” speedos for fathers.
“If my husband came home wearing a speedo, I would be, well, shocked,” Hager commented, referencing a viral figure, Tyler Moore, a public school teacher from New York. He had sparked discussion through a social media post.
She then voiced her disapproval of Moore’s appearance, particularly focusing on his thighs. Wade chimed in, “Yeah, no one really wants to see that.” Moore, who goes by “Tidy Dad” online, responded to the comments by calling out the “body shaming” on the show.
In a recent post, he discussed how he felt about the attention surrounding his choice to wear speedos while swimming. He reflected on the surreal experience of being publicly critiqued about his body.
Hager herself is no stranger to body criticism. She shared a personal story about being body-shamed by her late grandmother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, during her teenage years. “I remember lying next to my sister when my grandmother said, ‘Oh, Jenna! You look chubby,’” she recalled. “That really stuck with me.”
On the topic of speedos, Hager and Wade expressed differing opinions, especially regarding men with larger frames. Wade, known for his athletic build, remarked, “I have what I call a ‘glut club’—sorry, but speedos just aren’t for me.” He jokingly added that seeing someone in a speedo on vacation can feel a bit jarring.
Overall, the conversation highlighted not just fashion choices but deeper issues around body image and acceptance.
