NYC girl gave presentation on gun violence before she was shot

According to her destroyed mother, the 17-year-old Brooklyn girl is said to have fatally shot another teenager inside her Queens home.

“How did my baby die in the same thing she was trying to raise awareness?” Krystle Barkley was unconscious by a police officer inside a Jamaican home just after 5pm on February 15th. He spoke to a post about his daughter Deaza Barkley, who was found in the film.

Police said the teen was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and later died.

Photos from last April show that Deaza Barkley, covered in blazer, can be seen listening to her ears as she presents her slideshow in a classroom at Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School in Brooklyn.

“While gun violence and climate change are two major issues that are often considered unrelated, there are many connections, like the way both affect the community,” Deaza Barkley said in a presentation “Context” slide. I wrote it on. By acknowledging this problem, we can do something to create a sustainable future [sic]. ”

Officers charged a 16-year-old boy in possession of a manslaughter and a firearms offender in connection with the shocking death of the girl after recovering the gun at the scene.

The boy previously told police he was in a residential area lined with his grandfather's house, and he invited the girl when no one else was in the house, law enforcement said.

He also claimed that the fatal shooting was a coincidence and occurred while playing with the gun.

It remains unknown how the teens knew each other.

Deaza Barkley's mother remembers the daughter she lovingly called “sugar.” She said she was a good sister and friend.

“Playing with my younger brother and sister was a must for every day,” said Christol Berkley, who “invoked” her daughter to take her younger brother off from school every day to pick her up.

High school cheerleaders will “often persuade” their parents to open their unstruggled friends, East New York, Brooklyn, because they are not on the streets.

“She only wanted to be proud of her family.”

And now, “My family is never the same,” Christol Berkley said.

After graduating, Deaza Barkley dreamed of joining the Air Force. According to a new fundraiser by her mother and the Berkley family, she had just begun receiving university acceptance letters in the mail at the time of the murder.
