NYC Gucci store robbed in broad daylight by brazen gun-toting crew

A gang of gunmen robbed a Gucci store in lower Manhattan in broad daylight on Monday, forcing the luxury store to close for the rest of the day.

Three crooks remain at large after fleeing the scene at high speed after an armed robbery at a 14th Street retail store around 12:10 p.m., police said.

Police say two men and a woman burst into the store, pointed guns at them and ordered employees to get on the ground while they took items from the shelves.

They then jumped into a Honda CRV and sped off westbound on 14th Street.

Police have not released a description of the perpetrators, but said it was not immediately clear how much money the scammers made.

After the robbery, the store was closed for the day, leaving residents in the neighborhood upset. They include shoppers and retail workers, who say crime in the five boroughs is now out of control.

“Theft in the industry is at an all-time high,” said Brianne Bailey, who has worked in retail for 15 years.

“We already have a hard time retaining top talent in the retail industry, and things like this are going to make it even harder,” she said. “It’s just sad.

“This is the kind of world we live in, people have guns and this is what they do,” she added.

Shopper Amy Jo Eichel called the robbery “unfortunate.”

“I don’t know if I thought, ‘Oh my God!’ It’s worrying because this is New York and things like this happen all the time,” Eikele said. “It feels like just another day.

“I feel sorry for the workers,” she added. “The people working in these stores aren’t making much money, so why should we be dealing with this now? They’re just trying to make money and do their jobs, and nobody I don’t think you need to be afraid to go to work.”
