The 57-page indictment against Rep. Eric Adams (D) was unsealed Thursday and contains a series of significant charges against the New York City mayor.
Adams is charged with a string of federal offenses related to contributions to his 2021 campaign, “including contributions from wealthy foreign businessmen and at least one Turkish government official who attempted to exert influence over Mr. Adams.”
Adams' indictment lists five criminal counts, including bribery, fraud and illegal foreign campaign contributions, which prosecutors say began while he held Brooklyn's top public office and continued after he became mayor.
“As Mr. Adams' profile and power grew, his foreign backers sought to exploit their corrupt relationships with him to make money, especially once it became clear that Mr. Adams would run for mayor of New York City in 2021,” the indictment alleges.
The next page states that Adams' staff deleted the messaging app while under investigation by the FBI.
The count is:
Let's count one: wire fraud, federal program bribery and conspiracy to accept donations from foreign nationals.
Count two: Telecommunications fraud
Count to three: Calling for donations from foreigners
Count to four: Soliciting donations from foreigners
Count to 5: bribery
As Breitbart News reported, Adams has already responded to the grand jury indictment, calling the charges against him “completely false.”
“Folks of New York, I believe the federal government intends to indict me on a crime,” Adams said. said “If that is the case, then these accusations are completely false and based on lies, but it shouldn't come as a surprise,” he said in the video.

Adams is the first sitting mayor in the city's history to face criminal charges.
The charges come after the FBI raided the mayor's home earlier this year and the homes of several deputy mayors earlier this month.
Further details are expected to be revealed at an 11:30 a.m. press conference, just hours after the FBI seized his cellphone.
