NYC Metro-North rider stabbed in chest after complaining about loud music on man’s phone at Grand Central

On Saturday, a Metro-North passenger was stabbed in the chest during an argument over loud music as the train arrived at Grand Central, and the underground chaos spread to commuter trains.

According to MTAPD, the attack occurred on a New Haven Line Metro-North train arriving at the station around 7 p.m.

Abdul Malik Little, 46, was playing music on his phone's speakers and took exception when a fellow rider, 31, complained about the racket.

As the train entered Grand Central, Little stabbed an unidentified 31-year-old man twice in the chest with a knife, MTAPD said.

The victim got off the train at the station and was strong enough to identify the assailant to police who were patrolling the platform.

MTAPD reports that these patrol officers arrested Little at the scene without incident and recovered a knife during the arrest.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Little, from Jamaica, New York, is charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and weapons possession, according to MTAPD.

The stabbing at Grand Central is the second in recent weeks and comes after a series of horrific underground crimes.

Jason Sargent allegedly slashed a man's wrist and slashed a woman's neck during a mad dash through Grand Central on Christmas Eve, New York City police said.

On December 22, a woman riding the F train was set on fire by an illegal Guatemalan immigrant on Stilwell Avenue in Coney Island. The woman burned her clothes, fanned the flames and watched 57-year-old Debrina Khawam die. Police say the train stopped.

Sebastian Zapeta Khalil, 33, was charged with first- and second-degree murder and one count of arson in the attack. He is scheduled to return to court on January 7th.

On New Year's Eve, a straphanger was forced in front of an oncoming No. 1 train in a shocking catch-on-tape attack on 18th Street in Chelsea.

This alarming increase in high-profile subway crime has caused the Guardian Angels to dust off their red berets.

Angel founder and former mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa announced earlier this week that the crime prevention unit would resume patrolling the city's subways for the first time since 2020.

“We're going to have to have more people, more training, more presence, just like we did in 1979,” Sliwa said last Sunday at Brooklyn's Stillwell Avenue Coney Island Station.
