a A 64-year-old woman jumped from the third-floor window of her Queens apartment Friday night to escape her knife-wielding son, police and officials said.
The woman was found conscious and alert outside an apartment on Shore Boulevard near 20th Street in Astoria around 9:15 p.m., the NYPD said.
She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, police said.
Officials say the woman's son threatened her with a knife, causing her to jump out the window.
When police arrived, they said they believed the son had barricaded himself in the apartment.
However, police burst into the apartment several hours later and found it empty.
No arrests have been made.
Officials say her son has been arrested more than 30 times.
