A Big Apple mother was arrested and charged in the death of her 4-year-old son, a day after he was found severely malnourished and frozen with burn marks on his chest, police said.
Nitavia Ragsdale, 26, was charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child on Monday, hours after the boy, identified as Jermeik Modlin, was pronounced dead at a Harlem hospital, authorities said. He was indicted.
Police and law enforcement officials told The Post that the boy's mother was found unconscious and unresponsive in her apartment just off Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard around 7:40 p.m. Sunday. He claimed to have found his son in the hospital and called for help.
When the child was taken to the hospital, medical staff found burn marks and determined that the child was suffering from malnutrition and hypothermia, officials said.
Jarmeik was pronounced dead early Monday morning.
Ragsdale was taken in for questioning ahead of the two charges.
As she was led out of the 32nd Precinct Monday night, she remained silent with her head down and a red hoodie pulled over her head.

Police said Germeik had three siblings under the age of 8, but they were not at home when his younger brother was rushed to the hospital.
Police said there had previously been a “report of a domestic incident” in the apartment where the boy was found, but the nature of the incident was unclear.
