A Brooklyn pastor with ties to politicians who has dedicated his life to mentoring young children is facing disturbing allegations that he repeatedly sexually abused a teenage boy two years ago, according to sources. It is said that there is.

Edward Richard Hines, leader of the 67th Precinct Clergy Council, known as the God Squad, was charged Thursday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly engaging in multiple sexual acts with a 16-year-old boy. The handcuffed cleric appeared in Brooklyn Supreme Court to be arraigned on horrific charges. A special prosecutor in the Staten Island District Attorney's Office is handling the case.

The disturbing allegations came to light in August after God Squad reported the accusations to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, which removed Hines from his leadership role following an internal investigation. According to an Aug. 12 news release, the faith-based organization posted to X.

“The allegations against Pastor Hines are heinous and deeply disturbing, which is why we immediately removed him from the citywide clergy community and the Legion of God as soon as they came to light,” a City Hall spokesperson said. said in a statement, adding that Pastor Hines has never been charged. Officials said the cleric was also charged with two counts of sexual misconduct, forcible touching, third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Hines, who was described in court as a flight risk, is being held on $5,000 bail and $30,000 bond.

He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court again on December 13th.

Hines' attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
