NYC robbers take ATMs, tens of thousands of dollars from 49 stores: cops

A gang of money-hungry robbers robbed 49 stores across the Big Apple, using ATMs to leave and steal tens of thousands of dollars, police said. It is said to be part of a three-month incident spanning four boroughs.

Police said the three suspects enhanced the cars they used as getaway vehicles before committing robberies in Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens between September 19 and December 26.

Authorities said they looted ATMs and other merchandise inside the store before boarding various vehicles.

In two robberies in September, police said the group stole nearly $40,000 in cash from ATMs and fled.

However, police could not reveal the total amount of all stolen ATMs.

Police are asking the public for information regarding three suspects involved in robberies across the city. Police have not yet made any arrests.
