A New York City teacher accused of sexual conduct with a student remains in the classroom even after authorities fired him.

Almonte is accused of sending more than 28,000 text messages to a 17-year-old female student over a 14-month period and nearly 2,000 text messages to a 12th-grade male student.
“The NYPD also investigated allegations that a former student and a Truman High School student ‘engaged in sexual activity’ in a classroom,” according to a police report. However, the woman denies the charges.
Authorities launched an investigation into the incident and reportedly learned that the teacher had been talking to students online over the weekend.
