NYC teenager clinging to life after being shot in neck during group fight: sources

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the neck and killed Thursday in a targeted shooting on a Bronx street, authorities and law enforcement officials said.

The boy was fighting with a group of children when gunfire erupted at Caldwell Street and East 158th Street near Grove Hill Playground and PS 157 in Melrose around 4:15 p.m., NYPD and sources said.

The victim, who had been previously arrested and was believed to have been the intended target, was rushed to New York City Health Hospital in Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead, police said. .

Officials said the gunman fled the area on foot and remained below Lamb Thursday night.

The broad daylight shooting is the latest incident of violence involving teenagers in the Big Apple.

Last week, 13-year-old Troy Gill was shot and killed by a rival gang in Crown Heights, police sources told the Post.
