Tragic Loss of NYC Influencer Chase Filandro at Age 20

Chase Filandro, a well-known TikTok influencer and singer from New York City, has sadly passed away at the age of 20. His family revealed that he died by suicide.

On Tuesday, those close to Filandro honored the young star, who gained fame through his comedic skits and book reviews shared on his TikTok account.

In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram, his sister, Francesca Ford, expressed the family’s deep sorrow. “Our family is heartbroken and devastated by the sudden, unexpected loss of our beloved Chase,” she wrote.

Ford mentioned that it was Chase’s own choice to leave this world, adding, “His light, although surprisingly short, will continue to shine forever in the minds of all those whom he has touched throughout his life.”

She described him as “a talented artist with boundless creativity,” highlighting his diverse talents as a singer, musician, actor, teacher, artist, poet, and painter. The tribute further emphasized his magnetic personality and the joy he spread both in person and online.

“Chase brought joy, creativity, and inspiration to so many,” she continued. “Our hearts are shattered by this incredible loss, but we feel comforted knowing that his artistic legacy and the love he shared will never be forgotten.”

Ford also mentioned Chase’s fondness for the outdoors, where he often spent his leisure time. “Those who knew Chase understood his deep love for art and nature,” she reflected. “His passionate spirit and authentic warmth created lasting connections with people everywhere.”

During this challenging time, the family asked for privacy as they mourn. They are planning to honor Chase’s love for the outdoors by establishing monuments in two national parks, recognizing his appreciation for nature and his connection with strangers he met on his travels.

Through a GoFundMe campaign, over $31,600 has been raised, demonstrating his impact on many lives. “Thank you for reaching our goal in just 13 hours; Chase clearly affected many people,” they shared.

The family continues to seek additional funds to erect a monument in New York near their home. “We appreciate all your support,” they added.

Beyond his social media presence, Filandro was also the lead vocalist for Just Add Water, a five-member indie rock band that started touring Long Island and nearby areas in 2022. His last performance with the band took place last summer after a brief hiatus.

Take 2 Studio Acting School in Huntington, New York, also paid tribute to Filandro, remembering him for his “vibrant spirit” and the joy he brought to every room.
